Pick-your-own perfection at Chosen Hill Farm near Bristol

For me, summer is not complete without a trip to a pick-your-own farm. It’s the stuff of childhood memories; walking through row upon row of ladened plants, the air tinged with heady sweetness.

A short drive outside of Bristol into the rolling Somerset countryside, passing through villages and perhaps stopping off for a pub lunch on the way, you will find Chosen Hill Farm, who offer a wide range of picking delights.

With strawberry season drawing to a close, we made a beeline for the huge field laden with lingering fruit. Searching for the perfect strawberry became a game, all while trying to resist the temptation of trying a few along the way!

There is lots more besides strawberries to pick including gooseberries, raspberries, currents and more unusual fruits such as loganberries, tayberries and tummel berries. We also picked broad beans for our tea before heading to the farm shop to weigh our fruit and reward ourselves with an ice cream for the trip home.
